More information

The chapel formally ceased to meet in November 2009 after 75 years of serving God and the local community. The Circuit decided to retain the premises with a view to attempting to find a new role for the Church in Fingringhoe, including possible use as a Circuit Resource centre.

Various initiatives have been tried including Messy Church and Café Church plus developing further links with the village school. Also following closure of the local village Post Office it has been possible to accommodate a Post Office outreach facility on 3 half days a week operated by staff from Wivenhoe sub Post Office. This has been greatly appreciated and increased footfall at the Monday Coffee Morning.

Regrettably, in June 2019 it was decided that it was unlikely that a new worshipping Community would materialise at Fingringhoe despite the efforts of several dedicated people from within the Circuit. Therefore, the Colchester Circuit meeting resolved that the Church will close finally on July 31st 2020.

BUT it is intended that regular activities will continue until that date:-

Songs of Praise.
Monthly 3rd Sunday 3 pm.

Fellowship Group.
Monthly 4th Tuesday 3 pm.

Lunch Club.
Monthly 1st Saturday 12.30 pm.

Coffee Morning.
Weekly Monday and Friday 10.00 to 12.00.

Post Office Services.
Monday 9.30am to 1pm. Wednesday 1pm to 4pm. Friday 9.30am to 1pm.

A small group will continue to take a regular monthly assembly in the village school.

Also, it is anticipated that the following village groups will continue the premises during the intervening period:-

Book Group

Craft & Cross-stitch

Knit & Natter

We believe that we have been a good Christian witness in Fingringhoe by continuing to serve the local community for a many years as we have attempted to achieve our vision

“to be a witness to God’s presence in the wider community of Fingringhoe and where possible to join this witness with fellow Christians from other denominations.”
