Wivenhoe Methodist Church is a small but active Church committed to sharing the love of God in our local community and beyond.

We are part of ‘Churches Together’ and work closely with the other Churches in Wivenhoe in worship, service and witness.

You can find us on the left (east) as you progress down The Avenue, just before The Cooperative Store. If you travel by bus (the S1 or 87) alight at the Co-op.

Service Times and Regular activities

Sunday worship at 11:00am.
Coffee Mornings: 2nd Saturday of each month from 10am-12 noon.
Knit and Natter: 2nd Thursday of each month at 2:30pm.
Ladies Fellowship: 4th Thursday of each month at 2:30pm.

History

We Nearly Closed…

A History of Wivenhoe Methodist Church

Geoffrey King, the current organist, wrote a book with the above title. It is no longer in print but copies are held by Essex County Libraries, both at Colchester and Wivenhoe and in the Circuit Archives. The earliest mention of Wivenhoe Methodist Church comes from the Circuit minute books of the respective Circuit quarterly and Local Preacher’s Meetings during the years 1823 – 1836. The book provides a thorough insight into the history of Wivenhoe Methodist Church.
